It is only when wisdom teeth become impacted, which typically happens when they grow in improperly, that you will have 98444 wisdom teeth pain. The bad news is that most wisdom teeth do grow in crooked or misaligned. This can lead to crowding of surrounding teeth or may even cause damage to teeth, jaw bones, or nerves. Pain and swelling is common. Our oral surgeon will examine you and determine if there is an infection or not. If so, you could need to take antibiotics before the teeth can be extracted. The procedure begins much as the removal of any teeth: you will be numbed sufficiently so that you won’t feel any pain during the process. The gum tissue over the teeth have to be cut open. If there is any bone covering an of the teeth, it will be taken out first so that access can be gained for the extraction. In some cases, wisdom teeth will need to be taken out in several pieces. When the surgery is complete, you may receive stitches. Gauze will stem any bleeding. Don’t worry. It’s perfectly natural to experience some bleeding after oral surgery. Be sure to follow the instructions you will get as far as taking care of yourself for the first 24 hours afterward. Ice packs and over-the-counter pain relievers are usually sufficient to manage any pain and swelling. Avoid smoking, and limit yourself to soft foods.
